“I appreciate any discussion surrounding the enneagram as I am fascinated by the various lenses of the personality types it highlights. Disagreement with various teachers is not uncommon, since each has a different style of presenting/interpreting the purpose of the system and the types and instincts represented within it. We all come to the table with unique life experience, so everyone will take something a little different away from it, especially something as complex as the essence of being.
While this podcast offers some worthy contributions to the enneagram conversation, I find its preoccupation with disparaging other, prominent enneagram scholars to be suspect, garbling any meaningful insight among the “we are right and you are trash” vibe. I do not discount your skepticism with other enneagram approaches—we are all entitled to our own perspective. However, your podcast would be infinitely more enjoyable if you brought your “spicy takes” to the fore and actually engaged in an intellectual exchange with these enneagram authors that manifest in you such a snobbish scorn. The average listener can only expose themselves to the echo chamber of “stupid” “wrong” “misunderstood” and “ridiculous” for so long. A lot of what you are claiming is not all that far off from what other traditional enneagram teachers have written or said in books, blogs, articles, or podcasts, so I think it would be a constructive idea to invite them onto the show and have a respectful, healthy debate. Have a good week!”
