Description
We’re excited to bring you a new series from Vogue -- In Vogue: The 1990s. If you miss the 90s for all its nostalgia, fashion, and culture, you're going to love this episode on the rise of the Downtown in New York City. By the mid 90’s, New York City had married the European couturier model with the commercial power of Seventh Avenue, and had begun to overshadow Paris and Milan as the most important fashion capital in the world. Around the same time, a downtown school of designers and cultural figures began to react against the corporatized, uptown school, establishing a second, and equally as powerful vein of American fashion that exists even today.  Voices featured, in order of appearance: Sandra Bernhard, Claire Danes, Julia Stiles, Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, Isaac Mizrahi, Thirstin Howl III, Kristin Davis, Calvin Klein, Meg Ryan, Ryan McGinley, Kim Gordon, Yukie Ohta, Anna Sui, Laird Borelli-Persson, Vera Wang, Michael Kors, Francisco Costa, Fern Mallis, and Mark Holgate.
