As a friend of one of the murdered victims (mentioned during the podcast) I’m glad there is a review underway, in particular with regards to the conduct of (some) law enforcement members. For 30 years I’ve put the loss of a friend out of my mind & accepted his murder as fate. But of course...Read full review »

Well researched and relayed

Well spoken but story and timeline jumps all over the place. A lot of characters and guests are introduced and it’s hard to visual it all with the constant back and forth. Definitely not as good as Pong Su or Phoebes Fall.

Good story telling around LGBTQ crimes…but lots going on here. Some of the production elements are shoddy; jump cuts, overly dramatic music, cartoon sound effects but it’s worth a listen if you like TC pods.

I was shocked to learn about these crimes and that so many were silent about them. Am glad that justice is finally starting to be done. Thank you for reporting on this and keeping the stories alive!

I found the podcast very interesting. Well presented. Disappointing to know that these biases were present within the police departments so recently.

I am surprised there are no reviews yet. This podcast is excellent, tells a very disturbing story about gay baching and murder, ineffective policing, and prejudice. The narration was very good, and all the recordings were easy to hear. The story was told with compassion, which it really deserves....Read full review »

I am so relieved that someone is telling these important stories! I found the narrators voice lacking in feeling, so enjoyed that it was broken up by interviews.

This reveals Sydney’s ugly underbelly. I remember a male acquaintance being bashed in Centennial park in the late 80s. Looking back, he may well have been the victim of gay hate crime also. :( I thought the podcast was gripping and terrifying, particularly the testimonies of survivors and...Read full review »

An absorbing and still disturbing account of recent history . I was lucky enough just to be bashed in Hyde Park only losing my front teeth not my life. Greg’s passion and work devotion to his novel and podcast exposes a history of violent Gay hate crime that must never been forgotten. The...Read full review »

Enjoying listening, despite how tragic and unfair these crimes were. & the lack of justice and respect towards their families back in the 80s by law enforcement. My only negative is that the podcast doesn’t have more episodes!

Great podcast. The victim has a voice. Societal and necessity for cultural change recognised. Some valuable insights from all perspectives. Well researched. Pleasant narration.

The content is quite close compelling and the subject matter important, but the author reads are almost unlistenable. Leave it to the pros, please!

I like it, it ranges from the people involved to the societal forces that contributed to the incidents. Well-researched and well-delivered. A lot in common between the police’s treatment of the gay community and First Nations people.

This is an important story that needs to be told but the audio production is amateurish - the sound mix is really poor, with lots of abrupt cuts and music moving in and out without smooth transitions. Given that this is a sponsored podcast and there are lots of talented sound engineers out there,...Read full review »

Live this podcast! We presented, researched and written. Tragic events that mark a turning point in our society. Love it so much wish the episodes were longer!

This is not the easiest to listen. It’s not natural and lacks flow. Content is good, narration is hard to tune into.

Thank you for updating the podcast description to include the fact that the men who were murdered were gay. Seemed like a poor choice by an editor to leave it out. Glad to see thinking has shifted on that.

it is a well written & articulate article that now is now in podcast. which makes it more powerful. it gives a personal front to the victims that were not acknowledged nor the crimes against them were investigated by the police due to the homosexual nature undertone of the crimes. greg’s...Read full review »

A great series. I can’t wait for the next episode. I was a similar age to these guys, visiting the same areas sometimes. I can’t believe what they were put through. Brutal tragic - and so unnecessary. I hope they and their loved ones get some justice, or at least some sense of satisfaction that...Read full review »

I grew up in London in the 1970’s and I suspect looking back that the rise and rise of David Bowie and glam rock saved the live of many gay men. So sad that the occa, macho society in Australia led to so many hate crimes and murders. Roll on 100% tolerance!
Gerry PL via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 10/10/21
I just listened to the first episode. The series investigates a dark history of sunny Bondi (gay hate crime) layering interviews and low key but solid narration. It was emotioanlly engaging and gripping. Can't wait for the rest of the series!Read full review »

Not the usual reread clap trap we’re being force fed as new content, this is a fresh product, easy listening and authentic. You can almost smell the sea off Bondi.

Great podcast , well told .

Best crime podcast in a long time. Disagree it shrinks away from badging itself as gay hate crime. That’s absolutely what it’s about and puts a much needed mainstream spotlight on the issue

Sydney (and indeed all of Australia) needs to remember this shameful period in our history. I 'enjoyed' episode one (if I can use that word in association with the subject matter). The narrator's voice (which makes or breaks such things) was very easy to listen to. My only very small...Read full review »

Why are the voices all speaking so fast. It’s like it’s on fast forward.

It’s just badly written and like someone is ready a book. I couldn’t do more than 15 mins.
