The key to the joy of this podcast for me, is how well the main characters are drawn and their relationships with one another. I really came to care about them, in amongst increasingly bonkers scenarios. Series 5 feels like an end. I’ll miss them.

Lots of fun, imaginative, surprises and even occasionally annoying.

By far the best pod cast I have listened to on Realm+ by far. Xe Sands is a expert story teller and gives character life like no other. She has allowed me to drowned out a very long and boring commute.Xe Sands deserves 10 stars alone! Max Gladstone (et al) have taken the time to flesh out...Read full review »

Its over and I’m crying 😭 10/10 listen, relistening to it from the beginning (definitely not for the 4th time)

couldn’t listen longer than 5 minutes without getting bored

I have now listened to all five seasons and all I can say is, I want more!! While normally I’m not a fan of one person narration, the voice actor here has developed each character’s voice so that I know, without hearing the name, who is who. Great job and please don’t stop.

Show is addictive waiting to get the next episode and the next to see what happens. Excellent storytelling and the narrative speaker is perfect for the characters!

Now starting the third series and I cannot praise the writing and performance highly enough. This is everything the MCU should be but isn’t- and they do it with one actor and better CGI. You have restored my faith in supernatural audio drama. Many thanks.

I put this podcast on and get so much done! Even after I finish working, I keep listening!

A great show, well written, even if now and again plausibility is stretched a bit. The characters are interesting and the story is very good. Thanks! I hope more is coming. I will be waiting for season 3 I just finished the last season. Thank you! This has been one of the most rewarding stories...Read full review »

I’ve just finished season 5. It feels like the end? Please say there’s going to be more? I would miss the characters so very much.

I happen to listen to a lot of podcast, and I’m especially fond of long term stories, and I can say this is without a doubt one of the best to ever exist. I’ve been addicted since the first episode, the action is well done and engaging, and even more than that the characters development, history,...Read full review »

This show is honestly fantastic; the storylines are layered and connected, the characters well rounded and developed throughout the seasons and the acting from the narrator is just sublime. Thank you for such a great show, bring on more seasons!!

Well performed but poorly written. Been a while since I tried and gave up listening. From what I remember it had repetitive phrasing and poor grammar that ripped me out of the story - the story itself was interesting
Alfie089 via Apple Podcasts · Germany · 01/27/24
The stories are good, the descriptions are vivid, the characters likeable. The need for "the serpent said, Asanti said, Liam said, Manchu said" is repetitious and annoying, so very very annoyingRead full review »

I’ve listened to a good part of season 1 because I found the premise intriguing and enjoyed the various ways that magic is manifested in the world of this podcast. But after giving it a real chance, I’m not sure I’ll listen further. Overall, this feels like a missed chance to have a full-cast...Read full review »

Bread pod kind of annoying you don’t have a release schedule

Perry has really developed into my favorite character in this pod. As well as Liam! And Book Burners is my favorite podcast. Love the twist Perry’s character has taken! Don’t kill him off! He’s mysterious and adds so much!

This, like Gods & Lies, gets better the more you get to know the characters. A new episode is always a high point in my feed.

I love this story it’s well done and keeps you thinking about what ifs and who’s right or wrong.
TrueDeathAlchemist via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/26/23
As much as I loved the first season this one is getting boring. The story line barely moves forward and the descriptions of fights are taking over all the episodes.
krikukac via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 11/29/23
I was skeptic at first, but hang in for an episode or two. It’s an addictive story line with some fun humor scattered about.
AEA0412 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/24/23
Liam is transphobic and it gets totally glossed over. Hard pass, which is sad, because it’s an otherwise fun story.

Xe Sands’ narration brings the characters to life.

The story’s premise is interesting and the first season started out great. The twist was predictable, but still good. But, good lord, season 2! 🤦‍♀️ Asanti falling deep into her obsession with magic is to be expected, but the new character of FRANCES IS SO ANNOYING! The character is one...Read full review »

So I have come to amend my review with a bit of a mea culpa. Although I was a little slow to get into Bookburners at first, just because I so prefer full cast audio dramas to what is essentially a longform audiobook, my review was perhaps lukewarm at best. I have to say I have now fallen heavily...Read full review »

I really like this podcast. But they use the word “said” too much. Someone asks a question, they “said”. Someone replies, they “said”. It’s too much and doesn’t flow properly. Other than that, I really do like it.
jennymelo637 via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 08/11/23
Engaging stories, with good world building and well drawn characters. The stories ratchet up the tension and introduce twists and turns as the series progresses. I’ve not found any time where I felt the plot was flagging. Really enjoyable. I’ve withheld a star only because of the *terrible*...Read full review »

Throughly enjoyed this story and the characters. Loved the lore behind the magic and really made you feel you were with the group on their adventures. I hope for a season 2!

We’ll fine, guys!! The narration is SUPERB and the story is amazing!! Would love more episodes, although I feel like the story was wrapped up beautifully!! Excellent!!

I absolutely love this story, I’ve deducted 1 star as I would have preferred an actor for each character rather than being voiced by 1 person, even if they are pretty good
Jmc1712 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 05/18/23
Story is pretty good, but the writer(s) need to realize there are other ways to indicate who is speaking than ‘so and so said.’ It’s distracting at first, quickly moving to annoying, then to, ‘I wonder what else I could listen to?’ I said. Questions can be changed to ‘Sal asked’ or ‘Sal...Read full review »

I love it! Great story, compelling characters, just one problem. It’s the same with GUNDOG: it’s in audiobook form. I listened to Bullet Catcher and didn’t mind the one narrator because there were sound effects. This is a great podcast, don’t get me wrong, but if you make a season 2, adding sound...Read full review »

Each episode is better than the one that preceded it. Hope there’s a second season.
Wootsy1 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/02/23
Can’t handle how they finish every single sentence with he said, she said, sal said, menchu said, apple said banana said. Ugh. If your going to change your voice for each character, you really don’t need to end every 5 word sentence with “it said”. I had to stop at the end of the third episode.
