“I studied military history in college - and specifically, the Cold War. My father was a cold warrior both in the military and working in defense thereafter. His stories about flying combat over Vietnam all the way through his intelligence work got me very interested in the Cold War, the Soviet Union, Communism, and the Russian people. His side of the family is ethnically Russian, and his father was a tank driver in the US Army during WWII.
Due to my career, which utilizes ZERO of what I learned in college, I stopped reading/self-studying the Cold War.
Cam and Ray have reinvigorated my love for Cold War History. Their podcast is informative, and downright hilarious! The constant banter and silly voices give the history itself a new spirit. I appreciate that while they know Stalin was an asshat of a human being, he did have achieve great things for the Soviet Union. I like how detailed the 469,000 episodes about Yalta were. I learned quite a bit from this series, especially about that!
I enjoy hearing about events or people I was familiar with, but didn’t realize their involvement in the Cold War. The episodes regarding economics were truly fascinating. The show just keeps getting more and more nail biting, and they have sooooo much farther to go. I will be listening to this podcast until I die, and gladly. I have stopped listening to music, replaced by Cam and Ray every time I have the opportunity to turn them on.
To the hosts:
Cam - your Churchill voice sounds more like Bane from The Dark Knight Rises. Seriously. Revisit the movie.
Ray - please do your homework, and don’t forget to drink your milk, and eat your vegetables.
Cam - thank you for using the word “c*nt” frequently. It’s extra funny in an Australian accent.
Ray - love your WWII podcast.
To both: I REALLY want to hang out with you buttheads whenever I make it to Virginia (my girl’s family is there) or to Australia (whenever I decide to Holiday there). Cheers to a brilliant and hilarious podcast! I will gladly throw money at you.”
