Because I got it like this
Since listening to the Cold War podcast I have had to put my rose coloured spectacles into the recycling bin. If the opening and closing audio doesn't send shivers down your spine, check to see if you have a pulse, the content is even better and you will literally ( sorry Ray) learn things that you didn't know before. I am a cold war survivor being a child when it was all kicking off, and this podcast is helping me to make sense of events in my childhood but beyond that to gain an understanding of why and how it happened and beyond that to really understand how the world works. I am what Cameron would describe as a fundamentalist right wing conservative born again christian and possibly the last one standing and still listening , refusing to be offended by the sometimes, what could be described as gratuitous profane language which at times runs the risk of losing it's currency. That aside, I have been with Cam and Ray since episode one of Julius Caesar and can genuinely report that dick jokes aside my understanding of history and therefore the world that we live in, has been expanded exponentially. Thank you to both you gentleman who invest hours of research so that the rest of us can benefit. Never more so with the cold war podcast , for me the increased level of seriousness but balanced with a bit of irreverant humour and musical interludes, has taken this subject to another level. Cameron's incisive balanced scrutiny of both sides of the equation is informative and allows the llistener to come to his or her own conclusion about the world scenario and the human condition that affects us all. To steal the famous Jack Nicholson line, " it makes me want to be a better man". Before listening to this podcast I was probably one of the masses that was swept along with the popululist propaganda that led the world into the Iracq war but my eyes have now been opened to the real reasons why two tribes go to war which really hasn't changed since big Juli's time and I can apply this knowledge to my response to what is happening today in world events e.g. the current Australian federal election, Brexit etc, etc. I thoroughly recommend this podcast and it seems to me that both Ray and Cam have really hit their stride on this subject and that everything beforehand was preparation for what Winston would have described as, "their finest hour". Long may it continue from a grateful listener in Sydney. ps if you guys have plans to come to Sydney I will shout you a coffee and a cigar, not sure if you can stretch Limonchello in Sydney Ray but we'll do our best. I've followed Ray and Cam since the beginning of Life of Ceasar, and I'm super excited about this new Cold War Podcast. I came of age in the 80s, and I missed a lot of the Cold War, but I'm a huge fan of both Cold War history and general Russian history, so I can't wait to see how...Read full review »

The way I see it is that there are two ways to view this podcast: 1. The world's best history podcasting duo, Ray and Cam, are back with another winner with this thorough, interesting, and unique history of the Cold War. 2. An American attempts to interrupt the ghost of Karl Marx as he...Read full review »
