One of the best I've heard regardless of the subject matter. I'm a big fan of animation, specifically classic cartoons, and these guys KNOW what they are talking about. This podcast is loaded with history, info, and opinion. I just found this podcast a few days ago and have been...Read full review »

Some BLISTERING takes here (“Ub Iwerks is the most overrated animator!”) but always leavened with a hard-earned PRACTICAL knowledge that’s often entirely absent in other discussions. Every episode is an amazing journey—the depth of knowledge on both animation history and technique is impressive,...Read full review »

Excellent podcast. The dynamic between the two hosts is solid and leaves you wanting more. Brutally honest criticism of the art of classic animation. Cannot recommend enough.

As a lover of all things “cartoon”, these guys really know the history of animation and can spout off the artists and producers quicker than a Wikipedia article... but that being said, they seem to forget that these are CARTOONS designed to give us a 7 minute happy escape into a slapstick world...Read full review »

Detailed discussions of the largely unappreciated talent that went into the incredible era of classic cartoons. All of the episodes are insightful & entertaining but definitely check out the Harman-Ising focused episode 10. Good stuff!

Boy, do I love me anyone discussing old animation. And here they are! Thad and Bob know their stuff, and entertainingly dissect some old classics from the heyday of theatrical animated shorts. This podcast happily hits you as hard as that punch Popeye lands on that girder in A Balmy Swami. (After...Read full review »

...because the hosts certainly know their stuff when it comes to one-eyed sailors, daffy ducks and constantly bickering cats and mice, as well as the people who created the cartoons that feature these ink-and-paint stars. Each episode is packed with information and insights into the Golden age...Read full review »

My friend Thad is a wealth of knowledge about cartoons, and he also works doing film restoration and preservation. His co-host provides a seasoned film-collector’s and animator’s perspective. What results is a thorough and entertaining show full of enthusiasm and information.

Good classic animation podcast by knowledgeable classic cartoon historians. The first episode functions as a review of and special features for the second volume of the recent Warner Archives color Popeye releases.
