I was 17 when the Backpacker fire occurred and at the time living in Central Queensland, this tragedy felt pretty close to home. I listened to this podcast on a recent road trip back to Gladstone and stopped in Childers to pay my respects by visiting the beautiful memorial at the Palace. I have so much respect for the survivors who told their heartbreaking stories during this podcast. It really is an amazing tribute to them as well as the resilient and caring community of Childers.”
