Episode 3
The whole story is harrowing. Thanks Paul. I’m not far in but you’ve done a splendid empathetic job in the retelling. Darrens song is wonderful. I’m a week away from driving through Childers on a road trip with my dog and we will definitely stop and say g’day as we go. I realise how fragile life can be but how important it is to seize every day. I’m in my late 60s and this takes me back to my big European adventure in the mid 70s when hostels were always rabbit warrens but life was there to live and be free. I’m adding to this review now, having listened till the end. A wonderfully presented, compassionate podcast. Thank you I did stop to visit the memorial, however it was closed during Covid for renovations which gives me another reason to return. One cannot imagine how the young survivors managed to get on with there lives.

This was so well done, it was covered really respectfully and you can tell how cathartic it was for people to share their story. This made me cry, smile and feel anger. This could have been any of us. Thank you

This pod tells an important , bittersweet tale of youth, adventure, loss, grief, generosity, and remembrance. The 15 lost backpackers are lovingly remembered here. Their stories and the stories of good people in a small town who rose to the moment is moving. It celebrates decency!
