Childers - The Full Story
This has been a weekend listen full of emotion, especially tears, but also immense pride. As an aside, I was born in Childers and had moved to Canada. On a trip back home I was given the ‘Palace Story’ to take back with me. A booklet that had been put together a few years after the fire. Not long after returning to Canada I encountered a young girl who recognised my Aussie accent and said, “You probably don’t know this place, but I was in the backpacker fire in Childers.” I told her that I was born there and that I had a book that would possibly help to give her some closure. I got her address and sent it to her. I can’t remember her name, but would like to think that she benefited from this surreal connection we had that day. Sometimes you can be put in the right place at the right time. Thank you for your wonderful podcast.

The podcast as a whole is extremely engaging and very well written and presented. Thank you for sharing the stories of the survivors, those who lost...Read full review »
