deserves its awards
This podcast has definitely improved since they got a regular, fairly professional reader. I think her name is Kate. In the early episodes, they had various readers and it was hit or miss. There are a few areas it could use improvement. There are a few podcast episides where the intro music goes on far too long, and is annoying, but that is rare. Aside from the quality of the podcast recordings and production though, it is great that there is such a forum for new sci fi short stories, and it seems to follow the tradition of the old great sci fi magazines - some of which are still around. They don't seem to have political agendas, or any particular theme they are trying to promote, and the stories seem to be genuinely chosen based on quality of the story and the writing. Would be improved by weaning out the fantasy tales, I think. I think science fiction and fantasy should not be lumped together as they are easily arguably completely different genres, and those who love one, may totally hate the other and vice versa. Not to say it is excessive in its fantasy stories, but there are a few. Granted if you fall into the category of liking both sci fi and fantasy, you may not mind. I think it would be stronger by choosing one or the other - or creating 2 sister publications/podcasts. Personally I have no patience for fantasy, and I know there are fantasy enthusiasts who feel the same way about sci fi. I really think they are not related and it is a mistake to group them. Anyway, very well done for the most part... well worth a listen and well worth supporting.Read full review »

This podcast is one of my guilty pleasures as I drive home after work. As a cyber security professional and an author I get to enjoy both the science fiction and the great writing styles!

In the midst of the podcasts available on iTunes, I find there only to be a few that stand out. Out of the few great that stand out, I find Clarkesworld to be the best. Not that there aren't other good podcasts out there. Although Lightspeed, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, and Podiobooks are...Read full review »
