“I’m a fan of film history-podcasts and found this podcast hosted by father-and-son Bob Johnson and Matt Johnson. They are not overtly critical; it looks like they critique films they mutually admire and provide researched anecdotes and trivia (sometimes there are errors) to tell you why a film clicks or rarely why a film doesn’t click for them. One thing I really appreciate is that this podcast presents extended audio excerpts from the classics featuring scenes and musical scores to accentuate their points—sometimes I learn something by just hearing the dialogue that I didn’t notice when I watched the film. When I listen to this show I sometimes get the impression that I’m intruding on some personal father-and-son time between the duo now well into their adult years— you can feel the love and we the audience are along for the ride. Plus dad Bob Johnson has a great laugh—every time he chuckles I instinctively laugh with him for no reason. This is a good show.”
