“I started listening to C&R a couple of years ago after seeing a random post recommending it on tumblr. I wasn’t even particularly interested in the subject matter, but the title caught my eye and I was hooked almost immediately. C&R introduced me to a rich history of a world that I knew almost nothing about. I didn’t know anything about the music industry or about country music (I didn’t even listen to country at the time) and I was absolutely fascinated by the amount of dedication and effort put into the research behind the show. It is so clear how much Tyler Mahen Coe cares about the history he’s recording, and that passion is inspiring. It made me really interested in media history in general, but more specifically it made me interested in archival work and preservation of the past. So I changed my major to art history, with the intent of eventually working in a museum 😂 I’ve also been exposed to so many great artists through C&R—Bobbie Gentry being my absolute favorite, and I am so thankful to have learned about her—and I have a much deeper appreciation for country music and the people who shaped the genre than I did before. Any time people ask for recommendations for non-fiction podcasts, this is the one I point them to. If I could leave 6 stars I would.”
