This is so unfortunate. The content in podcast episodes is really good but the narrator is probably one of the worst I’ve heard. His monotone, mumble, zero inflection voice is painful to listen to. It sounds like the shy annoyed kid who is made to read multiple pages out loud in class. Frankly,...Read full review »

Although I must admit I do find his voice a little hard to understand at times, I love this style of podcast and have binged every episode!

This is my favourite kind of podcast, however, could you possibly enunciate a bit more or talk just a bit slower. I find it very hard to understand

Used to enjoy the quick, informative stories… sometimes the diction is hard to hear and I have to go back and listen again.. but what is with the 3/4 mins of ‘facts’ about the year? Far too many & if you have to fluff up a story with that many maybe don’t do the story

How refreshing to have cold cases that are solved,, much needed. Applause As you showcase storytelling and have great information to share and details of the times which is so cool, it may be to your benefit to notch it up by delivering a more nuanced presentation. Or have someone else present...Read full review »

Monotone delivery. Like listening to a 3rd grader read a book report. I’m sure the content is good just from the titles and show premise. Just need a new voice to deliver the content. Unsubscribing.

50 decades you say? Please back off on the background sounds, very distracting,

I’ve watched his YouTube channel since the start of it in 2016 and I’m so glad he has a podcast for on the go situations. I also love that he tries to cover cases that aren’t well known! Can’t recommend this podcast enough!

I absolutely love his voice! Both his channels on YouTube are fire 💙💙
dogeisbetterthangabe via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/23/23
I love the stories but just like on his YouTube videos, the background music is too loud. It’s distracting and makes me not want to listen. I won’t watch the videos now either. Turn it down please!

Here’s a quick tip: if you have a speech impediment/lazy, apathetic speech, maybe narrating/presenting a podcast isn’t for you! God knows who presented the episode on Diane Maxwell but what a terrible voice! He sounded drunk!
pablobrad via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 03/28/23
He’s not seriously reading this to use in a monotone voice without any inflection or pauses? The worst podcast I’ve ever heard.
TrxasLib via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/19/23
I don’t like to give bad reviews However, the host is so hard to follow. He is reading and mumbles through the whole thing. I gave it 10 min and had to shut it off. You get lost immediately. Don’t bother.

I love this podcast but the background music is so loud and distracting

I love the monotone voice - great for bedtime wind down - I really dislike over the top noise in story telling - so know that there are those listeners out there that really appreciate your voice and delivery style :-)

Love the information. Narrator is always a pleasure to listen to.

i honestly love his voice i think he is relaxing and i can understand all of it, i dont understand why people feel the need to be dicks tho, like yes writing a review is fine but you dont have to be a jerk abt it

I don’t like all the gibberish about time in history music etc. Host is also very difficult to listen to bc he is monotoned and he doesn’t enunciate his words. They sound slurred.

…and don’t get me started on the sophomoric editing, awful commercial breaks and the monotone, mush mouthed, slurring, No Enunciation, Alcohol-Meets-Quaaludes Narration style. I listened for two minutes and was ready to throw my phone into the pool. Content is potentially good but this guy makes...Read full review »

The stories he reports on are great but his voice makes me want to crawl out of my skin!!! I can barely make it through any of the episodes. It’s part monotone, part robotic. Why on earth would anyone give this guy a speaking part is beyond me.
Lindz_84 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/27/23
What is he doing at the beginning with the rambling world events? The stories are fine but his droning voice is awful for podcasts.
Danish6300 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/16/23
The speaker mumbles to the point it is too difficult to understand him. If you really want to be a podcaster put the time in to improve your speaking voice. I am surprised this podcast has sponsors.
JaniGurl via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/06/23
I can’t get past the hosts monotone voice that gets an increased pitch at the end of each sentence. It’s awful, just awful. I don’t understand why he didn’t hire someone else to read it. -Large Marge

Love the podcast but who else thinks this guy sounds like TJ Miller

I actually love the voice, it puts me right to sleep which is when I usually listen to the podcast. I just wish there was more posting.. went through all the podcasts and sad I can’t hear any new ones!
Crvstdxst via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/17/22
I couldn’t even make it a minute in, the narrator sounds heavily medicated and falling asleep. Bummer.
lolaindigo via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 10/25/22
I don’t mind the monotone as much as I hate the recording sounding so choppy. It sounds like someone spliced together the recording. Distracting, and I lost interest. Couldn’t make it through one episode.
Nurse Natasha via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 10/23/22
I cannot even get through the first 5 minutes of the first episode I listened to. You guys need a different narrator. Honestly, I will never listen to this podcast again, which is unfortunate because this is exactly the kind of podcast I love. Please change your voice
isblestwrt via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 10/20/22
Could be better if narrated with more enthusiasm

Your show is phenomenal, but you don’t need ads every ten minutes!
Ausso One via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/21/22
Monotone and muffled; I can’t listen to this guy speak. He’s very hard to understand and he just drones on.

Sounds like a great podcast, but I can’t stand this guys annoying voice! C’est la vie eh!..🤷🏼‍♀️
korby59 via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 06/04/22
The enunciation is so awful I can’t listen to any more of this.
Fiwi1812 via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 05/22/22
my initial thought a few minutes in was “ohh, the monotone narration is extreme”. and it definitely is. i’ll stick with it, bc the stories seem interesting, but i’m hoping this starts sounding less drone-like and more soothing…?
hfhnvrthvfhkoijinbgfxfghj via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/18/22
I like the topics and the stories are great. But it’s so hard to understand the narrator. It sounds like a slur to me and I keep finding myself rewinding a lot just to hear the “what did he just say?” part again.

Like others the narrators voice seems lazy and monotone. Often not enunciating words and they blend together. He clearly is reading and it seems with his voice and lack of Crescendo, will be cery difficult to listen for Lee than a minute. But, I’ll give it a shot. 🤞🏼

I don’t know how I missed this podcast! I love the YouTube channel and am so happy you’ve done a podcast too!

My boyfriend and I, believe it or not, often fall asleep or wake up and listen to Into the Killing (or the narrator’s other show, Criminally Listed.) The many friends I’ve shown each show to first have something to say about his tone, but are then sold on it due to the solid reporting, chilling...Read full review »

Informative content, however, way too many sponsor ads. I am forever skipping through them and it’s annoying if you just want to relax and listen. Most times the voice is hard to listen to also, it’s a shame because the podcasts and the YouTube videos are really entertaining.

Sorry but the monotone voice and hanging sentences just can’t keep me listening.
justforgetitalready via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/26/22
When I first heard the narrator, I wondered if it was a joke. Mon-o-tone. Good Lord! But after a couple episodes I now find the narration quite soothing and it adds to my enjoyment of the show. The stories are interesting and well-told.
Chicago Cin via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/16/22
Ya’ll just don’t understand. Narration is fantastic, don’t change.
Dudeimsleepin via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/02/22
The narrator speaks in fragments which makes storyline too hard to follow. I made it 10 minutes before I stopped listening. Too bad as it otherwise might be a good podcast.
Ollie's Auntie via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/15/22
The people who came from Criminally Listed’s YouTube channel know how to appreciate an awesome narrator and content when they hear it.
Jedmadar via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/14/22
Content seemed ok but couldn’t get past the voice/narration.
