“There are really few choices for me during the course of the day to relax, unwind. I run a production company, write, usually in rehearsal or performing on stage or taping (thank goodness) AND I'm a dad.
I have to be choosy with my time.
Podcasts are what I listen to, to workout with, do chores, etc.... I don't watch TV--even the shows I'm in!
Dan Snow's wit, good-natured appeal, but above all his humanity comes across with every interview he gives or whenever he takes us half around the globe to some exciting historically significant site. He is a master of the podcast genre and has a top-notch team behind him that secures excellent quality, superb content and structure. As an inteviewer he is respectful, mindful of the world's best historians he sits with even as he remains ever-personable. You wanna hang out with this guy over a beer and discuss the Weimar Republic, Nelson's Navy, Trench Warfare, the History of ideas, etc.--so expansive is his curiousity and his reach. He doesn't take himself seriously, he takes his subjects seriously. It's delightful listening.
History Hit is beyond time well-spent; in my home the podcast has become daily regimen.
