Dearest Scott, I’m back to leave another message after thanking you profusely for helping me get thru what seemed an insurmountable mountain of grief several years ago. Pearly and myself are doing much better and on our way to moving to a new city! A lot has changed in the last few years but my...Read full review »

For a while now I’ve been searching for something to match the surrealism of the Diary of Totov Roddle, or the adventure of Kino’s journey with that hint of magical realism, without luck until... I discovered this incredible writer. These are fairy tales like you’ve never heard before.

I routinely listen to these short stories over and over again. I am briefly transported away to distant Fairytale Lands. At times, a form of therapy during these troubled days, circa 2020. Thank you Scott. Sincerely, Mitch in Los Angeles.

Short story podcasts are difficult to find, I deeply appreciate these clever short stories, and the calming voice of the reader. It is unusual for said podcasts to update so consistently, as stories are difficult to write, but this one does so almost weekly. Lovely imagery and beautifully written.

Our family shares a love of stories and podcasts, and this one is all of our favourites. Scott is a brilliant writer and orator, and that’s enough to make this an excellent podcast. I want to let you know though, how profoundly touching and beautiful it is to be able to hear stories that so...Read full review »

I’ve listed all along and it seems like you went faster this time ... why? What once cured my anxiety with patients and story, now feels pressured and rushed.

I love folklore and fairy tales, not the scrubbed up versions, but the older, darker versions that reflect the fears and anxieties of times and places. These stories are like the latter and I'm floored that one person created them all. Listen to them - they'll make you feel things.Read full review »

The writer and reader of these stories is incredible. The imagery, sound design and overall production of every episode is incredibly high quality. Each one is a fantastic tale that leaves you thinking.

I love the Podcast. I'm amazed that Scott can consistently write and produce really well writen stories with such rich audio design every week. The characters resemble the ones we all know and the situations and story telling style similar to those we are familiar with. Except it’s darker and devoid of the neat endings we have come to expect. The stories I have heard so far are so satisfying, I recommend them to anyone who can deal with...Read full review »

I love fairy tales so it’s nice to get a sort of modern twist on the structure while still maintaining an old fashioned fairy tale feel and content. This podcast evolves the fairy tale beyond the stock and tropes and gives us something more substantial to enjoy.

Gods, sir, your “Woodcut” series should be a movie! So original & well-done!

Great concept, love the dark twists these stories take. The storytelling is perfect, and oddly soothing considering the grim turns that pop up.

I was getting tired of the usual fairy tales and myths and legends podcasts and with a catchy title like this, I decided to try it out. I was pleasantly surprised. Short stories averaging 9 minutes long. Though-provoking. Like Aesop's fables but made by Rod Serling. I've stopped listening...Read full review »

I do NOT listen to fiction podcasts - just not usually my thing. But this is totally different. These fairy tales are so wonderfully constructed; each one is a smart, sly little story that leaves you thinking about them for days! It’s late and I had a few more chores to do before I could get to sleep. What better to listen to than fairytales?! I remembered this podcast and was so glad I did. The narrator’s voice is soothing and the stories are short and interesting.

What a treasure! Short fairy-tales of another time that still, capture today's imagination. There's no Disney-like everything-works-out-in-the-end plots for the optimistic here, but you will find intriguing, compelling stories, supportive sound-effects and unexpected endings. I love Scott Thrower's narration style - it feels very classic fairy-tale narrator, with changes in tonality for when character's speak, but not in pitch so that it isn't jarring or comedic. His writing flows well, and I like that they are for the most part shorter, with always the...Read full review »

With each story, you hear your mind is pulled to a world that you have yet to know. With each podcast being 10 minutes long, it is a good chance to take a break and learn something new. And yet each story seems to contain a hint of dark irony.

I’ve been listening for months now, sporadically saving and binging episodes. The narrative style suits the subject so well and the ambient sounds really set the mood for brilliantly, thought provoking tales. Lovely, bite sized little treats for the ears. Senga Scotland 👍

Your podcast has changed my commutes from frustrating and boring to thought-provoking and introspective. My favorite part is the subtly of the messages.
