Sorry to Say I Just Unsubscribed
I’ve been listening for about 7 years, missing very few episodes in that span, and I am very sad to say I just unsubscribed. Things have become increasingly woke over the last few months. An awareness of social justice issues is one thing, but watching movies through a self-righteous, virtue signaling, social justice warrior lens is quite insufferable. The straw that broke the camels back for me was their intro to the Oscars episode last week when Adam quoted from Michael’s recent Sun Times column about “yet another black or brown” person being killed by police and whether they should even host a show talking about such trivialities when that is happening in the world. Newsflash: there’s *always* something more important happening in the world than your top 5 list or what movie you saw last week... but that is exactly why people tune in! Every single person - even the most ardent “activist” - needs some light relief in their lives, and I certainly do not tune in to a movie podcast to hear about whatever hot button social justice topic they feel they need to comment on. And to do so in such a ridiculous way made it even worse. Like did they expect brownie points for checking that off the list? Would people complain if they didn’t mention police killings? Will we get a weekly update on who died at the hands of police recently? Cause I've got news for you - there's about 1000 per year so that's about 3 per week. Maybe we could make it a standing item at the beginning of each episode? Just talk about movies. Or don’t and rebrand the podcast as some social justice movie podcast and maybe you’ll capture a new audience. Good luck with that, but you certainly lost this listener and reading recent reviews, I am not the only one. Use to be a delightful show but no longer. No doubt this will be shrugged off and they won’t see the issues but the left rarely do and I say that as someone who is politically “left” on the vast majority of issues.Read full review »

This is the one podcast I never miss. Frankly, I'm a little worried that I'm addicted... I discovered the show early this year, but went back to the archives and listened to the previous 70 episodes. That's about as high praise as I can give. Keep it up guys!Read full review »

Forget all of the other pretentious movie review programs...whether it be on tv, in print or in podcast. This is the excellent supplement to a cinephile's movie experience. Sam and Adam are engaging, fun, and would be excellent new friends to welcome into your living. You can scoff at...Read full review »
