Fat is one of the three essential macronutrients, alongside carbohydrates and proteins, that play a crucial role in supporting overall health and well-being. Unlike carbohydrates and proteins, which provide 4 calories per gram, fat is a concentrated source of energy, providing 9 calories per gram. Fats serve as a critical energy reserve for the body, helping to sustain prolonged physical activities and supporting vital organ functions.
