Big fan with one little concern
I want to preface this that I am not at all hating or being a troll. I have loved following along with Rachel over the years, I think she is smart, thoughtful intuitive and has lots of wisdom but I do have a constructive criticism. I really hope Rachel is able to read this and not feel defensive. I have been very triggered by a lot of the pregnancy talk, not because I don’t agree with a lot of what she is saying, because I absolutely do! I think we need to call our our medical systems for how they treat women especially pregnant/birthing people but all her conversations around this topic have lacked depth because she has not acknowledged the massive privilege she holds in getting to have this experience. Most women, at least in the US don’t have the money or resources to have the things she preaches about. So I’ve felt a lot of resentment. I haven’t heard her acknowledge the amount of money and privilege it takes to have this kind of experience when most women don’t even get a day of payed leave from the jobs they must hold to be able to pay the bills or all the money and resources it would take to properly care for a baby say with Down syndrome. For awhile she was great at talking about racism, sexism, classism in the yoga industry and beyond but in the resent year it’s like she’s forgotten about the the privilege she holds through this experience. It would be nice to at least hear her acknowledge that. Feeling a little disappointed that’s all.
