Explores the Complexities of the South - through Food!
For someone obsessed with audio, radio, and podcasts, I can't stop raving about Gravy. Intimate, attentive, comprehensive, thoughtful, deliberate - Tina Antolini really puts her heart into this one. I'm always amazed at how she can distill a very complicated history or delicate topic into a very… digestible bite (so many puns in this review) for listeners. The idea of telling the stories of the South through food is brilliant - like others say, this podcast goes beyond food, into deeper questions about what it means to be "Southern," different identities of the South, and how we're constantly evolving while simultaneously holding onto our roots. For folks who are interested in folklore, documentary studies, radio and digital narratives: Tina does a great job at being approachable and thoughtful, and I'm never lost during an episode. Also a great job at setting up place. One of my favorite programs out there.Read full review »
