I can’t wait to share about this topic of mindfulness because it is near and dear to my heart and a huge part of my journey to living as my healthiest self in true confidence.    So, if you find yourself going going going all the time, stressed to the max at moments, or triggered for who knows what reason….    Or if you tend to go for the sweet or salty snacks, or those addictive drinks like coke or pepsi because you can’t help yourself or that’s your go to in the afternoons…    There’s a chance you’re not in the habit of living mindfully yet… and I say that in the most loving and understanding way possible! Because trust me, I’ve been there!    I know what it’s like to suddenly yell at your kids for no reason, feel guilty about it, but then move on before you’ve actually figured out why you did it in the first place. Then you watch the cycle repeat itself way sooner than you’d want.    I know what it’s like to go straight to the tub of ice cream or bag of chips at the end of a long day and hope that whatever caused your stress and exhaustion that day will just magically disappear the next day because in the moment that food is helping you feel better about life.    What I learned though, is that if you don’t take the time to sit in those feelings, to dig deeper to a core issue, then the actions you want to stop happening will never really stop happening. You’ll keep yelling when you don’t want to, you’ll keep eating all the foods you don’t want to when you don’t want to be eating them. You’ll feel like your emotions and these “bad” choices are controlling you rather than the other way around.    And this is where mindfulness comes in.    Because I think so often what happens is that you are stuck in this cycle you don’t want to be in but don’t see a way out in those moments because… stress, kids fighting, dirty dishes, laundry that needs folded, bathrooms that need cleaned and all the things right? It’s so much easier to just react in that moment and do what you’ve always done instead of taking a minute to slow down and choose a response that’s likely different from your instinct.    While mindfulness can be an amazing tool for many things in your life, today I’m going to give the basics on what mindfulness is, why it matters to you, and then talk about how you can use it when you feel like your food choices are not the greatest, or not what you want them to be at least.   My prayer is that you are blessed and encouraged with what God wants to do in you and through you as you continue forward in living healthy and empowered for the glory of God!   In Joy, Lauren    P.S.
