This body-snatcher style thriller (I’m struggling a bit to pin the genre down ... it claims SciFi) couldn’t really have higher stakes or more plot points (at least early on). But it lacks so much else. It skips along the very most surface level of every detail, and feels immature, like listening...Read full review »

Inaccurate depictions of clinical interactions. This is a fiction, so I tried to let it pass, but no therapist would ever talk to their patient in that way (yelling, stating that their beliefs are point blank false, etc.) Sad, because it had a good story, but the author should have done more...Read full review »

As others have said, it really is a great premise, but is so poorly read. To me it was like he was giving the “spark notes” version of the story, or like a friend telling someone about the basis of their favorite book. Meh. I tried.

I like the premise and I love audio drama with a sci-fi bent! Keep up the good work!

When’s the new season?
Tempecd via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/26/18
Like other reviewers, I felt this was delivered very unpolished. Don’t get me wrong, I blasted thru season 1 last year and when season 2 hit I blasted thru it. There are times when Jay stumbles over his words. It feels he is reading an outline and pitching a story, rather than reading a final...Read full review »

Well done!! I have been hearing about this podcast on KSL radio and more proven in my mind, my friends. They have all these conversations that I have just not understood. Finally, when hearing that the second season was coming out, I decided to binge the first. Absolutely Awesome! Great...Read full review »

So excited for Season 2 March 5th!!!!!! Hosts of Eden pulls in your mind taking you on a reexamination of your world and existence through a truly multidimensional main character, listen if you want to look at things from a new perspective.

I only got through the beginning of episode 2. The idea in itself is interesting, but I’m having trouble falling into the story and listening due to its execution. There are moments where it sounds like the narrator is recounting the story from memory. There are some serious moments that are...Read full review »

No idea why this podcast has such good reviews or is featured. It isn’t well thought out or produced; it’s rambling and often trite. I just don’t get it.

This show has a really good story, however I am really not a fan of the storytelling format. It would have had so much more impact as a scripted audio drama with different people playing all the parts

Weird and predictable. Once it got weirder I stopped.

Honestly couldn’t stop listening to Hosts of Eden. It’s next-level binge-worthy.

This was really fun! Jay is genuine and has created a compelling yarn. Looking forward to more. There is more, right?!?

If you're like me, you might be skeptical that an audio play can really have the same entertainment value as movies or television, and if that's the case just listen to the first episode and you will realize, like I did, how awesome an experience Hosts of Eden is. You'll find yourself...Read full review »

Story has potential on a macro level, but overall is pretty poorly written. Also, the narrator is very off-putting. He doesn't seem to have a grasp on the tone of even a single character and is putting on a very strange and condescending air. Overall, if you get somebody new to do some...Read full review »

It's a fiction podcast and the host seems to be reading a draft of a novel. There's no effort at ambiance, and the host's speech has the cadence not of a narrator, but of a news radio host, which makes it impossible to actually pay attention to the story. I lost interest fast.Read full review »

Horribly read. Poor writing. The author/narrator should have had an editor. And maybe someone else read it. No character development. A weird plot that the listener never really cares about. The story made a lot of small errors, i.e. Saying "days" in one scene but in the next scene...Read full review »

Not a bad concept at all but unfortunately it's poorly delivered. Seems like a first draft, or someone re-telling a story they have heard. Music seems random and very repetitive. If the author reads this, it's a great story idea, just needs time and refining!Read full review »

Just couldn't. Story concept is interesting, but this is really just an aspiring author 'reading' (more like talking through) what sounds like a draft of a novel or screenplay. There is little color offered to provide the listener with a feel for the setting or characters.Read full review »

Meh
It's mildly entertaining. The story wasn't interesting enough for me and it gets VERY weird. He uses up all the Bible names and terms so there's that. Don't care much for him reading it. I'd rank it not as interesting as Jay's radio show but much better than Doug...Read full review »

It took me a few episodes of being published before I started listening. I was drawn in from the time I started listening. This morning when I saw my phone and noticed episode 7 was ready, it was what I listened to while making breakfast. Now for the next ones to come out.

I was really drawn in by the concept of the multiple personality patient, but I couldn't believe how bad the format and sound quality were. I listened to the first two episodes yesterday and absolutely loved them. This is more of a "storytelling" rather than an audiobook-type experience. Really interesting method, and I think it works. Excited for future installments.Read full review »
