How to Manage Stress: Parenting a Child with an Eating Disorder
Listen now
Description
Being a parent is one of the most stressful jobs in the world.  But not as stressful or complicated as parenting someone with an eating disorder.  I treat people with eating disorders and it is by far the most complicated and challenging condition I treat.  When it's your own child, and you are living with the consequences of the eating disorder, it takes the stress to a whole new level.  It requires a completely different type of parenting.   In this video I am in conversation with Jenny Langley whose son had anorexia at the age of 12.  She is the author of books on the subject and a lead facilitator at The Maudsley Clinic.  She not only has personal experience on the subject but is hugely knowledgeable, highly respected and runs a carer's support group.  This is a must-see video for anyone who even suspects their child has an eating disorder, or for friends or family of carer's.  It is an eye-opener.   Do subscribe if you haven't already and forward to anyone you think may benefit: this may land at just the right time for someone. In the meantime, here are some useful resources for you. The first two are my own websites where you can find out how I help people in their personal life and in their business life, with lots of useful articles to help you and each have a free download to provide you with some self-insight and tips to get you on track with your life.    Useful Resources: www.yourempoweredself.co.uk  www.newmaudsleycarers-kent.co.uk  Book:  Caring for a Loved One with an Eating Disrder  Book:  I'm Not Sick, I Don't Need Help:  How to help someone with a mental illness accept treatment  Ted Talk:  Laura Hill, Eating Disorders from the Inside Out
