I’ve listened to Wes Cecil’s lectures for a number of years now. They’re superb… insightful, well researched, funny, and importantly accessible. Cecil is a gifted teacher, I only wish I could take his courses in person.

Listened to your Mayan/Aztec lecture. Was really put off by your lack of understanding on p how to pronounce simple things such as Nahuatl (Na WAT). And then continue to make light of the fact you can’t pronounce it/blame ancient people for making it “too complicated (for you)”. Then you...Read full review »

An inspiration! People say a lot about what makes a good podcast. Here it is the speaker and the content. Some solid thought, entertaining to listen to, and inspirational as a human. Yes, some may comment on the sound quality, but for me it makes me feel more like I’m there listening. Thank...Read full review »

This is my second time listening through Wes Cecil’s lectures - they are informative and often laugh-out-loud funny.

Gets the basic facts wrong. Denies reality and science. Orthodox blue church theology in pure and fairly simple form. Avoid!

Wes offers an unparalleled series of summaries of eminent philosopher’s lives and work. I fully recommend this series to any first year Phil student as an introduction. Whether you agree with his personal views or not, he gives a fair representation of each philosopher. I happen to agree with...Read full review »

I’ve been listening to these lectures for about two years now and though I’ve recently fallen behind in my listening I must say that I love the work of Dr Cecil. It rekindled my love of philosophy and literature and thinking for thinking’s sake and I must thank him for it. A wonderful set of...Read full review »

I’ve been listening to these lectures for about a year now— whilst driving, going to bed, studying, passing time, so on. I love Wes Cecil’s way with words and the way he puts his ideas out there. He presents information in a way that’s very accessible and comprehendible and I really admire that....Read full review »

I have been listening to his lectures on YouTube for about a year at this point. I recommend all my friends interested in philosophy to listen to his lectures. Great stuff, Mr. Cecil.

Wes has a broad range of understanding from history to philosophy to Literature. He is a good speaker and he keeps a lot of serious content fairly light and digestable.

If you are looking for philosophy lectures that are grounded introductions then look no further. A mixture of philosophy, history and humanity filtered through an articulate and funny individual. You'll be gripped, you'll laugh and you will most certainly learn. A perfect place for...Read full review »

Just stumbled upon the Humane Arts while researching for a paper on the state of modern education. So happy I did. Cecil is very intelligent. He's also very funny. He speaks in easy to understand terms, has wit and charisma. I look forward to exploring his entire catalogue. Thank you.Read full review »
