Needs a new host
This podcast is great for anyone wanting to learn a little more about history. Very interesting and the guests are always very polite and informed. However, the host really brings the whole experience down. He interrupts constantly (sometimes needlessly) and is very dismissive towards his guests when he doesn’t like the way a conversation is heading. I understand they are limited for time and he wants to steer a conversation a certain way, but there are polite ways to do so other than interrupting or simply dismissing whatever they were about to say! It’s extremely frustrating and gives the show a stilted feeling. Some episodes are worse than others when it comes to this. I think he forgets that the show isn’t about him - we want to hear the educated guests speak about these subjects! Nonetheless, the topics are very interesting and I always like hearing what the guests have to say, even if the host is frustrating.

Absolutely marvelous program from the British cast and team involved. Plus all the guests are of the highest professional quality and the tone and momentum make it a very, very enjoyable ‘read’ on the various subjects covered (sorry for any spelling mistakes English is not my native language)

He dominates, rather than facilitates the discussion. Dear BBC Radio producers, surely you can find a...Read full review »
