“I was doing some research on the effects of narcissistic/abusive relationships, having a background in psychology and working in social services, but mostly because of having lived that myself (narcissistic/ abusive father, co-dependent enabling mother) when I came upon this podcast called “In Sight Exposing Narcissism” last year. The co-hosts are two very knowledgeable psychotherapists, Helen Villiers and Katie McKenna. The weekly content is full of valuable information on this very difficult personality disorder, with valuable insights on dealing with the devastating consequences of being in a close relationship with people having the destructive behaviours associated, especially if this is or was your parent, partner, or close family member. They do not diagnose, but they do shed light on the behaviours and on the impacts, and do so with humanity and compassion, and a touch of humour at appropriate moments. I wish I had had this resource earlier in my career working with families AND as a parent myself, but I feel fortunate to access it now as it has provided me with a resource to continue my own healing journey. It can be quite triggering so if some wounds are still raw, take care and go slow.”
