Definitely worthwhile!
First, I'll say that I feel some empathy for the hosts of Invisibilia; coming hot on the heels of the first season of Serial, most people's immediate reaction is going to be "It's not as good as Serial." So let's get that out of the way first: it's not Serial. But their topics are really interesting; kind of a different take on the sorts of topics you'd hear on Freakonomics, but from a more human perspective. Personally I think both of the hosts are brilliant, but I find Lulu Miller's speaking style a little distracting; a little overly emotive and overly enunciated, as if she's reading a book to an elementary schooler. And yes, if the Radio Lab sound effects drive you crazy, prepare yourself for a little of that. But overall, I think that Invisibilia is an awesome new addition to NPR's podcast lineup.Read full review »

The commenter below vdfhvc shares my problem. The content is great like all NPR podcasts, but host Alix Spiegel’s “vocal fry” is like nails on a chalkboard for me. I cringe when she gets to the end of every sentence knowing it’s coming. I don’t know if I can stick with this podcast because of it.
