Podcast of the highest order
NPR's Invisibilia sounds, so far, to be perfection of the podcast form. Was that an episode about two relatively gruesome personal tragedies? Yes, but as the name suggests, the stories are only just a frame to explore the hidden world of thought and behavior. They are about terrifying notions: being consumed with the thought of murder, and being locked, awake in your own body, unable to move... for years. But as we listen, we're led out of that fear and left surprisingly uplifted. Worthy of note is the podcast sound: precise, deep, and lush, much like its second-cousin This American Life, without tipping over into the over-embellishment of Radiolab. Invisibilia is captivating but easy to listen to, slightly more casual than other NPR podcasts but still as comforting. Lulu and Alix do sound virtually the same, but do their best in their occasional (well-edited) banter to clearly differentiate their words, if not their voices. NPR is proving to be the true masters of podcasting as the medium becomes mature and mainstream, and cross-platform Invisibilia (it's being broadcast over old-fashioned airwaves too, but is being treated as a podcast first and foremost) shows they are ready to make podcasting a serious business.Read full review »

This podcast is one that explores thoughts that we all have and delves into them with incredible detail. It's a great example of how one can get inside the heads of others to better understand one's self. Glad to finally hear this great podcast.Read full review »

I think you ladies have a challenge on your hands. I listened to the preview on Radio Lab about Paige, and although interesting, I think pulling together invisible or maybe even secrets for a radio show will be hard. I loved the show, and subscribed. I can't wait for next one... Good...Read full review »
