Why is this creep “rabbi” getting so turned on in middle of this?!?!?

This podcast reminds me of a story of a restaurant in Paris. The restaurant was owned by a non-religious Israeli, written in big Hebrew letters Kosher on the front of the restaurant. In this case this restaurant was anything but kosher, however deceiving the uneducated naive tourists who are...Read full review »

Great concept, but not good if you want a true Torah Observant perspective on these topics. As another reviewer mentioned, this show is almost entirely about finding loopholes in Halacha and in doing so making Jewish law more palatable to those who don’t really want to follow it anyway.

How can a self-professed “orthodox” rabbi express the falsehood that there is no prohibition for a man to view pornography? Isn’t the shulchan aruch clear about the prohibition of a man looking at areas of a woman’s body that are normally covered (other than ones wife)? This is a distortion of...Read full review »

Speakers not speaking clearly and cross conversations interrupt flow of information. Not continuing to listen although the topics are interesting.

The logic used in this podcast so often seems to go opposite to how it should in religion of commandments with these loopholes; they say "this is what I want to do, so let me find any piece of scripture that can be stretched to permit it". I'm by no means a perfect nor always great...Read full review »

I love how this podcast tackles real issues from a feminist halachic stance. This is intellectually stimulating and highly engaging!

A smart and serious discussion of too-often overlooked Jewish topics

In my opinion, this fantastic podcast succeeds in being both seriously traditional and seriously radical in how these issues related to sex and sexuality are discussed (though obviously my sense of that is influenced by where I am in the community). Dr. Marcus and Rabbi Linzer and the moderator,...Read full review »

As someone in the midst of converting to Judaism, The Joy of Text is an excellent source of knowledge, resources, and reassurance. The kindness and expertise expressed on this podcast makes it so wonderful to listen to, I’m always looking forward to the next episode. Thanks for all that you do!

I don't agree with everything the rabbi says, but this show opens many important conversations. A great contribution to the Jewish community.Read full review »

Thank you, Rabbi and Rabba and Dr. - for bringing these important topics to the pod world.

While I enjoy the topic of sex, sexuality, gender, and Judaism to begin with, what makes this podcast unique is the back-and-forth between Rabbi Linzer and Dr. Batsheva Marcus. They both bring different perspectives, which are nuanced by their various fields of study, and give over answers in...Read full review »

An opened, unashamed, halachic and sociological perspective on sexual topics in the religious Jewish community. Definitely comes from a more left-leaning standpoint but the nature of discussion is broad.

I was hoping for a real exploration of the Orthodox perspective on sexual issues, even if not PC. On this podcast, a liberal sex therapist pretty much says everything is permissible, and the Rabbi agrees with her. On one episode, an LGBT activist said she prefers to ignore the pasuk in Leviticus...Read full review »

This show is excellent! It discusses a vital topic, sex, with both a Rabbi and an orthodox sex therapist. This creates a discussion both from a halachic point of view and a health perspective. The merging of the two yields a sex positive discussion within the scope of halacha which I think is...Read full review »
