I absolutely love this show except for the Alice Mitchell episode, which I couldn’t even finish. Please, please stick to having historians, forensic experts, and criminal attorneys etc. on. I was so disappointed that for an episode about a lesbian couple that you chose an activist. Her commentary...Read full review »

As a 14 year old girl this is an amazing look at the reality of history for women. Thank you!!!

While admirably trying to understand women’s sad plight a hundred years ago. The historian seems to bypass some very heinous actions in order to say women had it rough. I agree but that does not mean ignore murder and domestic abuse to a lesbian woman in order to say isn’t it too bad she didn’t...Read full review »

Impossible to listen to. Sounds like she’s got a mouthful of marbles, can’t understand a word

Loved this podcast when it first came out, but now I’m not going to bother. As a feminist I’m really interested in how woman are treated differently in crime/prosecution, but they talk vey flippantly about murder and pull out any excuse rather than explanation to the most horrible of crimes....Read full review »

Lucy Worsley is fabulous and this podcast is so interesting. The only one I couldn’t listen too is the episode set in Australia on a Mission as it Australia still feels the profound and hideous trauma of the stolen generations everywhere. Too soon for me but an important story to tell, especially...Read full review »

Excellent show. Very interesting to go beyond the crime and explore the situation of women in that time. Shame it is limited to anglophone countries.

I have just listened to the episode about Princess Fahmy and the Savoy murder . Spoilt by wheeling out the tiresome reference to racism. I can not for the life of me see what it has to do with anything in the story of this murder but as usual it’s obligatory now to jump on the band waggon &...Read full review »

So interesting to step back in time and peek into the lives of women over 100 years ago and see what has changed and what’s stayed the same through the lens of crimes. Thoroughly enjoying the episodes

Very well put together, interesting and informative production. Wouldn’t say it’s misandrist or biased to the benefit of women as some of the reviews claim, it’s a genuine look into how society of the time was biased against women and how the law/ conditions affected these women and could speak...Read full review »

Wonderfully researched, eloquently written and superbly presented history of ‘female crimes’ that questions the facts and one’s own subconscious bias towards women in history. One of my favourite podcast series.

The bias and misandry is incredible. I hoped for something better but am actually very disappointed with the BBC for not having the standards in place to stop this.

I enjoy listening to the podcast when I don’t want to listen to something that requires a lot of attention. I do wish there sometimes was a deeper analysis of what was going on e.g how the podcast Bad Women approaches topics. Like I got the sense the host had no idea that hanging songs were a...Read full review »

Good but I find the life of a Victorian woman not looked at/ not described not looked at much in the school curriculum. I am a massive fan of Lucy Worsley and this is amazing! Please make more because I am so interested.

I’m loving this podcast. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the feminist perspective on what has happened in the past and how it relates to today. It’s fascinating to see how much is similar. Looking forward to the next season.

So all female murderers in history were either innocent, framed by men, convicted by male juries or coerced by men. Thanks for clearing that up Lucy.

I love everything this lovely woman does. She brings history to life and makes it relatable.

The idea and format really could be interesting and engaging but it doesn’t meet the mark. While we know that life for a woman 100 years ago was challenging but that doesn’t give license to kill but the presenter seems to think that being a woman allows you to kill.

I was so happy to see this return for another series! Lucy Worsley and her contributors do such a great job. I’m having to ration episodes out so I don’t binge listen to them all in one go. Please do another series!

I love these thoroughly researched cases and especially the feminist perspective - it is fascinating to see how attitudes to women have changed but also in some aspects stayed the same over the years.

The focus on female murderers is so interesting- up to now they all had a „reason“ in my eyes…

Lucy is like a warm cup of tea with a book on a cold night. Her way of telling a historical story (with facts of course) keeps you engaged and your imagination running well past the end of the podcast. Another Lucy gem indeed!

Great podcast casting an investigative eye of the treatment of women in the Victorian era. My only criticism is, I want more!

Love the show, it’s a fascinating insight into the Victorian world and the focus on women and their experiences is really interesting. Love Lucy and love the podcast, I’m both a histery nerd and a true crime junkie so this hits home. However, very disheartened on the abortion episode.
