Sassy made me the Dr. Ruth of my middle school!
I can’t express how much joy I have gotten from the first few episodes of “Listen to Sassy”—Tara, Pam, and Dave make me HOWL with laughter (and cringe with retroactive embarrassment for my younger self!) I was born and raised in a tiny, VERY conservative town in central Louisiana and always felt a little out of sync with my peers. My Mom was great, but was always really squeamish about discussing sex and body issues and she got me subscriptions to Seventeen, YM, and TEEN magazines to supplement my education about puberty, sex, dating, etc. and pass on the pertinent information to my two younger sisters. I enjoyed reading them, but I didn’t start to receive a proper education until I started getting Sassy in 7th grade. There were other girls out there like me!! Despite my being a late-blooming virgin who didn’t get my period until high school, I gained enough knowledge from reading Sassy that my classmates started coming to me with questions re: pads v. tampons, French-kissing, blue balls, Keith/Kevin Coogan (jk) and I was able to give them good information. I adored all those magazines, but Sassy was the one that felt most personal to me. I have several podcasts that I listen to regularly, but “Listen to Sassy” has become my absolute favorite and I will continue to enthusiastically recommend it! If I may, I want to give a shout out to my 15 year-old daughter Sunny, who is currently battling (and beating) Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and my sisters Jaime and Carrie. The fact that we emerged from our Bible Belt upbringing as outspoken feminist liberals is largely due to our early exposure to Sassy. Love y’all, Betsy P.S.: “Regina”😈 P.P.S.: “Glemby” 😘

I had no idea how much i would be craving the next episode of this podcast. I never came near a Sassy magazine in my girlhood. But Tara, Pam, and Dave put together such a wonderful and perfectly constructed time machine back to the late 80’s that i am addicted. I am laughing and smiling through...Read full review »
