The subject matter was very intriguing and there were a lot of twists and turns. A great mix of investigation and interviews, and was quite well made.

Top listen, good twists finally something that’s really interesting that’s not violent crime/ murder related. I would say It’s a bit slow and wordy but I enjoyed it over long car trip so it was perfect for that.

A really interesting podcast that takes the listener to lots of intriguing places in the search for the real Janessa.

This story was really interesting. Thank you for the work to bring it to my ears. Well told and produced. Much appreciation 😊✅

I found the program to be interesting until the real “Janessa” is located. Yes, she’s a person who’s suffered, but she seems pretty superficial and somewhat of a caricature. (For example, she claims to be a shy person, but when she gets a big insurance settlement, she does what any shy person...Read full review »

An entertaining and informative podcast that shines a light on one of the most disturbing features of social media.

A very well told story. Really enjoyed the calm tone of Hannah’s voice and think it was very well thought out. I didn’t enjoy the interviews so much with Bubba, he just wanted air time but appreciate it’s another point of view. I can’t get my head around how these people fall for these scams...Read full review »

The best kind of podcast to find. I finished it in a day.

Listen all the way through, Hannah and her team really used great detective skills to uncover a better understanding of how cat phishing works and why. Highly recommend.

Truly excellent investigative journalism. A cautionary tale if ever there was one.

Super interesting podcast! I think they did a great job of doing lots of research and tie the story all together at the end.

Ironic that a podcast about scammers is a bit of a scam. As it turns out, the entire quest to find out who the real Janessa is was a bit overblown. Janessa Brazil was one of the largest adult entertainers in the world and was a cohost of a nationally syndicated radio show. Interesting...Read full review »

I fell into this podcast by accident and couldn’t stop listening. It is well paced, well researched, and, most of all, a riveting tale. This story could so easily have been told in a salacious, exploitive way (porn star! Sex cams! Vodou!)), but instead it goes deep. Yes, it’s the convoluted story...Read full review »

So interesting and well done. I would listen to Hannah talk about anything! The part of the podcast where the real Janessa was interviewed was so cringy. I found her to be really annoying.

This podcast has so many surprising twists and turns. Incredible, articulate and insightful host. I am trying to not listen to the entire series in one day! it is unfortunate there is not enough legal recourse for online scams especially when you compare the cost of policing for petty crimes. ...Read full review »

I’d love another Season, maybe one where an ordinary man whose identity has been stolen is used to con women

This story was fascinating. Thank you for telling it. As someone who has definitely been mooched off in previous relationships, I really felt for the victims.

I really enjoyed the entire podcast. It is well put together and is captivating taking you on a journey. Beautifully edited, and put together Hannah who is the host/journalist has the most lovely voice, and could listen to anything she puts out.

I hope that in the years since the Janessa Brazil scam began that FaceTime and Zoom are making the scam much less successful. I’ve had to abandon it because of the awful and constant background music. I listen through headphones and it’s so distracting and unnecessary

I didn’t love the implication through multiple sources and the podcast itself that there was blame on the part of Vanessa. Um, no. She does not need to justify doing cam work. She does not bear responsibility for predatory male criminals stealing her identity to commit crimes.

Thankfully this series delivered by reaching and featuring the key characters. However like so many podcast formats the story could have been told in less time.

Outstanding podcast. Eye opening. I loved it. To the people who complained about the subscription charges: stop whining and be an adult. You either wait or you pay and don’t wait. The producers have to live as well. You don’t spend months of work for free either. So don’t expect others to do it.

What a story. Who could imagine that scams have such an impact on a person life without intention. I hope Vanessa finds her place in the world again.

A story that could have been told in one episode. They made a big deal out of whether or not they would find the real Janessa. A private investigator could have found her in an afternoon. People getting scammed on the internet is a shame, but unfortunately commonplace. I feel like this podcast...Read full review »

I was so excited to start this podcast and immediately listened to the first few episodes as soon as they dropped, but I found myself bored quickly.
