“I probably don’t benefit as much as people with real weight or blood sugar problems, but by following the low-carb lifestyle I believe my physical and mental health has greatly improved. As a 66 year old male, I was informed about 14 months ago that I was ‘pre-diabetic.’ Around 4 months ago, I found one of Jimmy Moore’s podcasts, so I tried to cut out almost all carbs. For that 10 month interval, I added more chicken, pork, and eggs but still shovelled down the vegetables along with delicious, fresh, tropical fruit while traveling. At 174 cm. in height, my ’typical’ body weight for the last 20 years has been between 76-78 kg., with highs up to 81 kg. Now, after 4 months I feel comfortable at 69 kg. but I think even more will come off. Lower triglycerides and higher HDL came about, as well. Jimmy and Cassie carry on a lively banter with various guests who, like Jimmy, have often turned to a food lifestyle where good fats, proteins, and some carbs, are taken in following the principles in the paleo or ketogenic diets. It’s heartening to hear how this lifestyle of eating real, nourishing food has totally transformed some of the guests into healthy individuals. I find encouragement when I hear others tell their stories of overcoming health obstacles that I cannot imagine.
The hosts, and most guests, are published authors and bloggers but there is no ‘hard sell’ in their conversations about gaining or maintaining better health. I think that this podcast has helped me become unshackled from outright acceptance of the current dietary health recommendations by ‘experts’ (i.e., high-carb) that has guided some people into ever failing health. I may fall off the ‘diet’ wagon, now and then, but real food is so tasty and filling that I believe I can readily maintain the self-discipline since there isn’t much suffering at all.”
