The Yin and Yang
I listen to many different types of podcasts. Most of them focus on education, knowledge, recent tends, and clinical decision making. But Ginger offers something that equals the combined value of all that (if not actually exceeding it) and serves to create a necessary balance. That being the pursuit of the understanding of what it means to be a medic in the first place. Consider the words of the Apostle Paul- "If I speak in the tongues of men and Angels, but have not love, I am but a resounding gong or clanging symbol..." I can take in knowledge through podcast after podcast and stack it all until it reaches the heavens. But if I don't understand who I am as a Medic, and if I don't value the mindsets of other Medics, then I lack a crucial empathy that all caregivers require. These conversations are wonderful. I can’t think of an activity with more payoff to my professional, personal, and mental well-being than listening to the material that Ginger creates. I’m so thankful that our profession is creating material like this, and we need more of it!
