“Hopefully if we’ve learned anything from the last year it’s that we need to be able to pivot and be flexible. Change is often not welcomed and we are creatures of habit.
I’ve been trying to give the new format a chance and also understand that the new host is learning, growing, and hopefully adjusting to as she goes.
I must say that I prefer the previous format, though. I like the idea of the mini story in the beginning - especially having the authors reading them themselves! The way it is done, however, seems a bit like there is something left to be said. It’s either unfinished or a little jarring to end so abruptly. I wish I could give more specific and direct feedback to improve that portion.
I liked the celebrity guest voices from before and prefer that to the current format. Sometimes I would try to fast forward and guess who was narrating. I especially enjoyed the post story interview when they shared why they chose the piece. I also enjoy the post story interview with the author and follow ups on where they are now.
I appreciate the editor’s expertise but don’t always feel it is additive to the story. Sometimes it truly is. Maybe this could be on an as needed basis.
Hoping things will improve with time. I’m a little worried that the show has been on hiatus for several weeks post holiday and hope it’s just that. It’s not something to give up on completely, but maybe rather it can be a “going back to the drawing board” moment. And I don’t think it’s anything specific or personal to the new host - let’s give her a chance and maybe avoid some of the more personal comments that can be damaging to someone as they start out. I think the energy of the show could build a bit and as she gains momentum, I’m sure it will be something we all enjoy and look forward to each week.”
