“He has a lot of insight into culture, but is very poor with Scripture. I guess you can't ask for much more from a self proclaimed "Cultural Architect."
I just listened to a few sermons. He obviously does not understand the sovereignty of God or Calvin and his positions. He misrepresented Calvinism, changes Scripture in order to make a point and manipulates verses to say something completely opposite of the original intent (which is very dangerous). He never stays in one part of the bible to make a coherent argument and I just have a hard time listening to him struggle to speak. I'm pretty sure he is a universalist, but I haven't heard enough of him to really know. His "gospel" is to love others, and has a vague sense of sin. The biggest issue I have with the few sermons I have listened to is this... He is better than you. He gets it. How come you don't? Why haven't you stepped into your potential and intention? Obviously since he believes that it is all up to us to make ourselves alive (but of course he doesn't believe we are dead so what's the point of being made alive?) then it depends on you to love God and love others.
You are better off listening to Mark Driscoll or Matt Chandler if you want to hear "hip" preaching, at least they preach from Scripture and not from their own philosophy. If you want the true gospel that will make the dead come alive listen to Paul Washer, John Piper, Tim Keller, Paul Washer, RW Glenn, Al Mohler and others who are true to Scripture and have a real reverence for Christ and his gospel.”Read full review »

“On one side you have Erwin reaching lost with a softer gentler (non-confrontational?) approach. On the other side someone like John Pipper - speaking the truth without appology. Who's right . . . I believe they both are. They may have different approaches to the same issue but they are...”Read full review »
