Essential Listening for the Fitness Enthusiast
I subscribe to several bodybuilding and fitness podcasts-- including "MUSCLE: Science and Application", "Road to Ripped", and Mark Bell's "Powercast". But of all the ones I listen to, "Muscle for Life" is the one I recommend the most often to others. Matthews is *laser-focused* on his topics, deeply informed on the material, and his Magazine Cover physique is the testament to that focus and knowledge. Yet it wasn't always so. Matthews openly discusses, and on his website offers ample evidence, that he spent a great many of his early years of training in the Wilderness of Middling Results. (I'm surprised I didn't run into him there, since I spent many years there myself!) Listening to his podcast (and later finding his website and ebooks) helped wake me up to the self-defeating habits I'd engrained through simply "working out" the way I'd learned from others. It helped me change my eating habits-- by getting me focused on Smart Macros (and not denying myself Healthy Fats!). It helped me better understand the supremacy of the Big Compound Moves (some of which I'd mastered, others of which I'd completely neglected). Thanks to the great advice I've picked up from quality podcasts like this one, I've lost 12 lbs., most of it FAT, including (for the first time in my life), that stubborn adipose fat I've carried around my waist since my teenage years. I'm leaner at 43, and a heck of a lot stronger, than I was at 22- and I really owe a lot of that to this INSIGHTFUL, INFORMATION-RICH podcast. Subscribe to it-- benefit from it-- and SHARE IT, so we can help lead more of the disconsolate masses out of the Wilderness of Middling Gains and into the Promised Land they've been seeking.Read full review »

More reviews of Muscle for Life with Mike Matthews
This is a truly outstanding podcast. I've tried several of Matthews' suggestions and they have all paid dividends. I've tried several different approaches to training and Matthews' is, hands down, the best. Keep up the great work!Read full review »
