“I remember, as a kid, sitting with my grandpa, my dad, and my uncles-- just listening to them talk. For hours. About anything. We're a very artistic, very diverse-- very opinionated-- family. They would always argue about the weirdest things-- about the proper cookie-to-milk ratio, cheeseballs as not only an appetizer, but a means of self-enlightenment, and the correct way to rock a Tom Selleck 'stache without looking like you're from a '70s porno (apparently it can be done outside of Magnum P.I., but I have yet to see it. Thoughts?).
I learned to be eccentric here. I learned to love everything-- to interact with everything. To be curious.
My family fell apart after my grandfather died. No more hour-long dining room discussions about whether or not it's better to chew like a cow or laugh like a goat. Just silence.
So I've been looking for that ever since. Looking for intelligent, light-hearted, and hilarious discussions about things that don't matter but also matter very much.
I'd like to thank you both for giving me a chance to go back. To just sit back and listen like I used to. To give me inspiration to keep writing about things that don't matter but also matter very much. This podcast is exactly what I need.
Thank you again.”Read full review »
