My protractor, whizwheel and maps have been replaced with fancy iPads with apps
Super Powerful Maestros of the Sky Symphony, Alpha Charlie Echo here. I just wanted to say thanks for such a great show. I started my flight training under the South West (geographical region, not the airline). "Rising from the Ashes" , aka “burning bird” Bravo back in 2002, and immediately fell in love with Flying. By the fall of 2003 I had earned my CFI/CFII and MEI. I got to instruct for a couple years. As life sometimes has a tendency to do, a curve ball was thrown my way and I had to put aviation on hold for many years. Fast Forward 17 years later, things finally lined up where I could start flying again. Only problem is, I was so far removed from aviation by then and so many things have changed, I was a bit overwhelmed. I needed to be re-familiarized with the NAS and from more than just a book. What are these new fancy ipad thingies? GPS approaches to ILS mins??? What has this world come to? I assumed Foreflight was a golf term... I digress. He continues. I started listening in March of this year, and despite your warnings on the quality of early episodes (BTW, they were fine), I started at the beginning. You really helped me get my head back into the aviation lingo, communication techniques, thought processes, rules and regs. You really helped me understand a lot of the things that have changed over the last 17 years (and it's a lot). After lots of studying and 200+ hours of AG and RH, I actually feel like a somewhat competent pilot again. I completed my first flight review in 17 years in March. This last weekend in July I also completed my IPC (also 17 years out of date) and renewed my CFI/II/MEI for the 10th time (we never let that expire). It feels so good to be flying again, and your show has been a huge part of getting my brain thinking on all things aviation. You provide such an invaluable resource. I am all caught up on all episodes. The biggest change over the years is RH no longer hit the wrong sound effect button as often, and now seems to have handed that off to AG. Thank you again. Great podcast! This has really helped me with my training. I finished up my PPL a few weeks ago and am now working on my instrument rating. The discussions and information these guys put out has really helped me learn airspace and my radio work. It’s also providing great context for the...Read full review »

Found this through the APG podcast and have been addicted ever since. The hosts provide a in-depth discussion of aviation from the perspective of a controller. They answer questions and do not provide Bravo Sierra when they are not sure! They also invite controllers from other areas to provide...Read full review »

RH & AG are up and coming podcast legends in my opinion. I’ve been listening since episode number one and the quality of their work is getting better every episode. The content is very relevant and unbiased! As a Canadian pilot working in the US on occasion it’s very handy to get an insight...Read full review »
