Description
Welcome to the podcast! Episode 107 is a Down Under 135 special! DU135 is renowned for being an extremely tough race; it has a high dropout rate, tough cut offs and long finish times. This year was no exception, with only two finishers! First was Nigel Hill in 52 hours and 36 minutes, followed by Tom Dade in 53 hours and 11 minutes. The race threw everything at them; steep ascents, slippery descents, off-trail sections and river crossings. The weather added another element, with driving rain and biting winds. In this special edition I chat with Tom Callum, one of the race organisers to find out about the genesis of the race and why they chose to make it so difficult. Then I speak with Nigel and Tom Dade to find out about their different race experiences. I really hope you enjoy this episode, even though it is a fair bit longer than my usual podcasts! Many thanks to the Eventurers for the use of their amazing photos! If you do enjoy this episode, please go on over to Apple podcasts to rate, review and subscribe.
