This is almost like an audiobook/radio play. Super well written and acted

The acting was terrific!

The story and superb acting reeled in this listener and grabbed my attention. I listened to it all at once and cried a little at the end. Yes, the episodes are short, but incredibly compelling. The premise is fascinating and Rosamund Pike makes a complicated character sympathetic. All the other...Read full review »

If I listened to podcasts whilst sitting in a chair in a dedicated sound room, this might be OK. Notice I said “might.” There is too much bouncing around in the plot line and I sometimes can’t make out what is being said in low tones or mumbles. All in all, it’s not an easy or pleasant experience.

Amazing writing, acting and sound design. Superb in every way.

I love Rosamund Pike’s voice and the pace of this podcast. I wish the episodes were longer…. 😊

I don’t mean harm, but do NOT Pay money to listen to this podcast. It’s ultimately unsatisfying, and I still can’t cancel it. Close to $20 now for regret. Update: still being charged $3/month for this. Close to $50 in. There is no actual ending to this podcast, not even a signal. You’ll spend...Read full review »

I had to stop listening a few episodes in. Rosamund Pike mumbles/whispers so many of the lines that I was constantly having to rewind just to hear what she’s saying. Her tone and cadence is super off-putting as well, and the random sound effects make it all seem childish
Nameofme7676767 via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 08/03/23
Story timeline jumping is so much easier to follow in a visual format. With audio, throw into that far too many narration interrupting the flow & unnecessary sounds effects just made it a irritating listen. The story sounds good, so perhaps I’ll try the book instead.

Great story, beautifully narrated. Rosamund Pike’s voice in particular was wonderful!

This is a brilliant dramatization of a unique story as we follow the protagonist who uses 9/11 as a way to disappear from a few unhappy life and marriage. The sequencing of the story really engages the listener inviting you to put the pieces of the story together like a puzzle. This story is so...Read full review »

Every single and I mean every single one has to tick woke boxes wheather the wokeness is relevant or not to the story, get a grip! You do realise being gay is only 3-4% of the population, it’s like your your all trying to brainwash everyone! F off! If it’s relevant then so be it

I really liked this. Not only because of the story itself. Of course, comparing it to Gone Girl does neither justice. The voice acting was just brilliant, everyone came across credible and like a real human. Also, the sound design was great. The used it to underline the narration, not to overbear...Read full review »

A tale of taking an easy way out but the past always catches up.

Decent story. At first, I thought it was based on a true story and wanted to know how the person got away with it. But it is just a fictional story, main character is difficult to like, but she does have some redeeming qualities by end of the show.

Something different. I enjoyed knowing the voices of the actors. I kept wondering if it was actually a true story.

The story isn’t great but isn’t terrible. But the fact they stretched this story out over 9 episodes is ridiculous. With the number of ads and then the ending acknowledgments in every episode, each one is maybe only 10 mins worth of storyline. The ending left something to be desired but not in a...Read full review »

High production values, yet… More than a podcast. This reminds me of 1930s radio shows but then it abruptly ends, and there is no closure on the story.
Ruth Turner via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/13/23
All this buildup to have such a disappointing ending!! Totally not worth the listen ;/// great plot, would watch a movie or show on this, but it’s such a letdown
grisslygris via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/12/23
Couldn’t get past episode four due to the endless self congratulatory introspection along with the box ticking approach to woke topics. Key takeaway is don’t fake your own death and then collapse into the black hole of your own rectum.

Wow
This was an amazing podcast. I was drawn in from the very beginning. That usually is impossible to accomplish. I loved this story and the actors were amazing! All I can say is WOW!

Bizarre story, told in the most confusing way. I’m hooked on the mystery of it all but annoyed I didn’t discover this AFTER all the episodes came out. Great voice acting, great sound design, episodes are way too short. Ending was abrupt.
j_a_x_ via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/11/23
Took an episode to get into the story, but once I was into it, I was hooked. Unfortunately, the ending is awful and significantly takes away from the positives about the podcast on general. The episodes are super short and I am thankful I found the pod after they had all been released, otherwise...Read full review »

Very unique story and brilliant acting but could have been better but lengthening the episodes and less blurb beginning and ending.
Cazbebo via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 07/06/23
Really nicely presented by Rosamund Pike and other actors but sadly the script is just another boilerplate. Stereotypes like Investment banker = success vs starting chef = failure or constant romping = loving relationship, line one after another and there is never a single uncommon or interesting...Read full review »

I loved this, the pace and length of episodes suited the story. Ms Pike has the perfect voice for this genre. I’m just sorry it seems like it won’t last long.
Kew friend via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 07/04/23
Episodes are frustratingly short. Of 15 minutes, you get loads of ads and 4 minutes of credits. Does not make for an immersive experience. No pay off with the ending. Production values are good and voice talent is excellent. I felt this could have been really good, but didn’t get there.
Ellie_Crackers via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 07/04/23
The story is intriguing and the acting so well done that it completely captivated me. I didn’t know what would happen next and was very impressed by the writing and character development. Very unique. Loved it.
phylliebee via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/04/23
I loved this story! The characters were all so relatable and their relationships to each other felt very natural. There’s this taboo excitement behind the idea of faking one’s death and creating a whole new life. The follow through of such a decision, the consequences, then owning up to it and...Read full review »

The storyline sounds great so I was intrigued but the voice of the main character is off putting for me such that I can’t continue listening. Forced myself to listen to two episodes hoping the voice would shift into a different tone but the bizarre vocal presentation remained consistently.

Look forward to this podcast each week. One of my favorites!!!

The story telling was too bland and flat- the flat tone of Connie’s voice made her hard to like. There was only about 10-15 min of content per episode- I would have preferred a shorter more condensed series. I would have loved to understand more about her intrinsic motives for leaving and to have...Read full review »
