Many of the principles are also applicable to consumer products as well, especially if you are trying to enter/create a new market/segment and/or increase margin in your product through some form of differentiation.
I found myself in a few companies doing positioning before I discovered April, but her approach gives you a really clear set of tools and a way of explaining what you are doing and why to colleagues, stakeholders etc AND ways to include them in the process to get better results and more buy-in!
