“I was so moved by Elena’s conversation with Jeff Krasno particularly when they spoke about whiteness in the wellness world and how important it is for us all to acknowledge our complicity (even unconscious complicity) in white privilege and systemic racism.
What struck me most was when Elena noted the contradiction in the wellness world in which yoga teachers teach us to put our bodies into positions to help us breathe better and thus shift our nervous systems and how we, white people (teachers and students) have been so oblivious to the fact that People of Color have had, in addition to all the difficulties we all have to shift our nervous systems, this other huge weight and pressure that is racism on their nervous systems for generations.
