Not like the mainstream podcasts you hear about on VH1
No--this is the real deal. Real people with real life experience. As much nuance as Jim and Eric elucidate and demand from the games they discuss is delivered with their style. They often state that their goal is not merely to review games, but to provide an entertaining examination of a game, in-depth, that goes beyond the typical formula explored by countless other shades-of-grey podcasters. The more you listen, the more you will be enchanted by the at once slapdash approach to each episode, and yet again a surprisingly insightful commentary on the ins-and-outs of each delicacy they bring to the table. This is far from a pass on the expected approval of each item up for discussion too; as with real life, the ensuing opinions and final thoughts leave your interest piqued with descriptions that are mixed. Good elements, questionable ones, salient features, and the greater connectinos to the evolving story of the hobby gaming "industry" are all common fodder here. And if that wasn't enough, you get to learn more about scotch/whiskey and maybe some music you didn't know about too. Throw in the occasional rant about privledged parents who don't know how to park, the laments about the loss of French Horn popularity, and the true impotence of the ubiquitous "awesome," and you've really got something special. Hey, if it's good enough for Jamey Stegmaier, it's good enough for me.Read full review »

This is one of the best board game podcasts out there. Here you'll get great banter and in-depth discussion. Also, they'll often take you off the beaten path instead of just focusing on the current hotness. The audio quality is great too.Read full review »
