Generally a good "popular science" podcast
I've been listening regularly to Quirks since before Bob McDonald hosted the show. It's always been a good listen, although I have noticed lately that the Journal Nature often covers exactly the same stories with similar interviews. My main peeve with this show is its recent tendency to jump onto whatever politically correct bandwagon is passing by. When BLM was leading the headlines, of course every show needs to be about BLM. Now with Aboriginal matters forefront, a very recent show features an interview about the ability of trees to communicate with other trees through underground networks. The interview ends with a reference to the ancient aboriginal beliefs that trees communicated, and then... I kid you not... suggests that science needs to pay more heed to the superstitious beliefs of primitive cultures. Seriously. If I made the suggestion that science needs to pay more heed to the creationist beliefs of Christians, I would be laughed out of the room.Read full review »
