Interesting topic but surprisingly poorly researched, not a very balanced take on history.

Well done Mahinaarangi and William for this fantastic podcast. I am of Maniapoto and am living in Melbourne. This has been awesome to learn more about my history. I look forward to watching the extended interviews!

Absolutely superb history. A clear and honest look at a fascinating and tragic period in Aotearoa’s history. Appreciate the personal touches from the presenters tracing their own lineage and connection to the events. And the Maori historians…….just so spot on superb! No ranting or extraneous...Read full review »

Robust look at this part of the NZ wars with insight coming from contemporary and historical voices, opening up a pivotal chapter of NZ history in a capturing manner, humbling to hear these reflections Ngā mihinui ki Ngā kaimahi o tēnei punua pāoho

As pākehā feel it is important to understand collective history so have this a listen, found it a really well produced, balanced and at times saddening account of the Tanui wars and the invasion of the Waikato. Really recommend this for all aotearoa

I came to listen to this podcast with almost zero knowledge about the New Zealand wars despite the fact that I have grown up in New Zealand. This podcast is a fantastic overview of the Taunui wars. A wonderful korero about such important events in the history of Aotearoa. It’s worth listening to to understand the events of the last and their legacy to today.

This is a tiny but important taste of NZ history. We need to know more about what our forebears did. I have so many questions but I realise there is only so much that can be put into one episode.

It’s great hearing from esteemed experts like Rahul Papa as well as the academic historians, and I love hearing te reo woven in too.

Thank you so much for putting this together. Absolutely fascinating and I can’t believe we weren’t taught this in the 1980s at school. So pleased they will be teaching NZ history going forward.
