So engaging, educational, fair and moving. It pretty much blew me away.

A bit of a slow start in that it seems like a forgone conclusion. However, as you continue to listen you realize the story is much more than a small Saskatchewan town. Worth a listen.

Not just careful journalism but an amazingly pithy and comprehensive grasp of the entire psychosocial concept, in all its manifestations. The best distillation of this terrible phenomenon we’ve heard and very timely.

Major omissions in an otherwise fascinating story: the criminally complicit role of fundamentalist churches and beliefs as well as the public officials who belong to them and believe in Satan/Satanists etc. connections drawn to the US were shaky and vague; digging deeper into the cross border...Read full review »

Well researched, thoughtful and balanced. Incredible and important work.

I lived in Martensville at that time , there is more to this story than this one story. My husband and I never allowed a sign up , we knew there were lies being told by the children , stories fed to them by their parents , it was a sick disgusting time . If you didn’t have a sign ppl would call...Read full review »

This was beautifully done, and horrifying that some major players still can’t face the truth. In 2022, teachers are being accused of “grooming” and other ridiculous and trumped up offenses, when the true dangers are still in the home.

This was exceptional, the quality of the episodes are well researched and the host does a great job letting the story take center stage. Excellent!

I’m not entirely sure what the issue is, but no matter how I sort the episodes, they only play from 7-1 and not 1-7. This is so terribly annoying that I can’t keep listening to this. I’ll keep listening to the saved episodes from the Uncover podcast instead. With that said, this case deserves...Read full review »

Wow
This is an amazing podcast ! I feel bad about the daycare operators the son and the police that were wrongly accused ! The poor kids that suffered the abuse due to irresponsible adults not seeking the truth !

How is this different than Pizzagate or the Qanon conspiracy that says there’s a ring of baby eating pedophiles running the US government? I’m afraid we can’t learn.

Great podcast! What amazes me was the extend of the collective hysteria. It seems like the whole town was wacko. Obviously all a bunch of Jesus freaks. 🤦‍♂️

This is an important story that has been buried or ignored for 25 years! As a therapist I have witnessed many lives being destroyed when my profession “recovers memories of ritual abuse.” This is a complex issue that is still impacting thousands of people today and no one is talking about it...Read full review »

I remember listening to the series the first time and not paying too much attention to it but found myself bored and re listened/ it’s pretty compelling . Such a strange and sad story. It’s definitely an interesting topic and the host does a good job with the detailed interviews

It’s probably just a personal thing, but I found the narrators way of speaking distracting. Lots of pauses after every other word or so to try to create drama. The affect wears off after the first 15 minutes.

Sometimes it’s hard to believe stuff like this actually happened. This was so well made and told an important story!

Excellent podcast thst is well researched, solidly reported and well edited. My only complaint is that I found the stark, sensationalistic horror movie-style sound design effects and spooky music to be over the top and cheapens the seriousness of the subject matter.

Really fascinating investigation zooming into one particular page of the satanic panic that I’d never heard of before. I really appreciated the way you compared the right wing Christian hysteria of the 80s to the actual systematic abuse that was going on at residential schools at the same time.

I’ve listened to 100’s of podcasts. This one is so well produced and narrated. I listened to a CBC podcast just before this one. It was equally as good, which led me to look for another CBC podcast. I’m in Pennsylvannia, so it’s not a case a Canada favoritism. The work these folks do is superior.
