Show your work
I regularly read Lainey’s gossip blog, and was impressed with her astute insights into the celebrity industry thanks in part to her sociology background. I also enjoyed the way she talked and her unique insight into the royal family on Omid Scobie’s podcast, which made me want to check out Show your Work. Unfortunately, she defers too much to Duana who detracts from the program rather than enhancing it.While Duana also offers interesting insights from a Hollywood perspective, she needs to work on her delivery (verbose, condescending) and to show curiosity (amounting to respect) about what Lainey thinks and then giving her the space to talk about it — in other words, to do what Lainey does. I agree with other commenters that Duana comes across as condescending and that her opinion is worth more air time then Lainey’s. Finally, Duana has what could be a pleasant voice, but needs to soften it. Her tone sometimes has a grating edge to it which becomes very hard to listen to after a while. I have reluctantly given up some podcasts --including this one-- because while the content was great, the host(s) either had unbearable voices, used words like “like” as punctuation in every sentence, talked to much, digressed —and the list goes on. What they don't seem to realize is as with any skill, using your voice as a vehicle requires training and practice —show your work.Read full review »

I find myself zoning out a lot while trying to listen. Have given them a lot of chances. I give up on this one.

People roll their eyes when you give them the name, but I have learned more...Read full review »

Two incredibly intelligent women. I learn so much each podcast! The only feedback I would give is that 2 hour podcasts are way too long. They need to shorten it up!
