Promising new podcast
As a huge fan of the New Statesman podcast and the City Metric blog I was excited to listen to this. I'm giving it 5 stars and writing a review to help more people find the podcast and it definitely has promise to be consistently at least a 4/5 podcast. Couple of notes that are not necessarily criticism but small problems I've noticed. It's slightly too long. I think a new podcast shouldn't be asking so much listening time. Do 22-24 minutes very well first then build up close to 45 once you have a firm listener base. Too much music. It feels at time like the podcast has a score. A score fits better with a story telling podcasts which I don't think Skylines intends to be. Structurally it felt a little muddled. This is linked to it being a bit too long. The segments are different in style, (interviews and discussion) and it's not really queued up that well, the affect being I didn't know what was coming up next until it was happening and then I had to work out what was the intention of the segment. And finally, a map of the week is great but some method should be developed to help people find it easily. Maybe each week CityMetric's Twitter could pin a tweet as their 'Map of the Week' or have a unique url. Would help direct traffic to the blog and social media. Just a thought if CityMetric people are reading. Positives are too numerous to mention all of them but overall the content is great, the contributors are interesting and well informed, the production quality is slick and it has Barbara Speed.Read full review »

Consistently interesting and entertaining. The presenters' and guests' enthusiasm and knowledge makes even the most obscure detail of city life accessible and fascinating. Makes you look at a city through new eyes.Read full review »
