I was impressed with series 3/6 Russel king and Anthony curcio but the other ones were more vague. This podcast has potential but this is not fully achieved. It needs just more episodes in general and I am entertained. :) Series three is amazing, can’t stop playing this and Alice Levine is by far...Read full review »

this was such a wonderful story that surprised me the entire way through. obviously Anthony has amazing charisma and energy. great to hear a story about the evil scourge of prescription opioids that has a far happier ending than most. absolutely worth the listen

I am not great at writing reviews but I really enjoyed this podcast so much that I have recommend it to all my friends and I can’t stop talking about it and hope they make a movie some day. Anthony was so great at describing every little detail from how he grew up, about how he struggled with...Read full review »

Where is the last episode ?

The Pantini series was woefully bloated & long, & didn’t address much of his questioned career but focused on crackpot theories that are easily dismissible & for the most part, debunked. Earlier series are better.

Could be shorter as per previous review

This could have been great, and indeed in places it does cover some interesting areas, but it becomes incredibly repetitive just to stretch it out. Hugh Dennis tried to be funny in places, but makes some cheap political jokes that are unnecessary and pointless. It’s also clear he hasn’t heard...Read full review »

Interesting listen, but lots of repetition after the first few episodes.

Some series have been better than others. The Shergar story is interesting but the narration was ridiculous. The Pantani series was poorly sequenced and so repetitive I thought my podcast app was jumping backwards. The Trillion Dollar Conman was better.
JObber28 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/16/23
Thought the first few episodes were excellent. Felt it then became repetitive and didn’t really shed much further insight into the case . But overall I did enjoy it and recommend it for a train / car journey

Why not get someone who knows about cycling to present this not just a random ‘comedian’. Hugh Dennis has never been funny or a presenter of any note. Please rerelease this and replace Hugh Dennis.

The contents of this seven episode podcast could be condensed into a single half hour without losing any impact. It’s repetitive, poorly edited, we often hear the same opinions and facts again and again within minutes. At the end of all that, we’re left with nothing beyond unsubstantiated rumours...Read full review »

A fascinating hour’s worth of conjecture and supposition. Unfortunately this podcast lasts around 5 hours so it is intensely repetitive. Plus, I like Hugh Dennis as a comedian, but assuming he can carry this podcast because he likes cycling just doesn’t work. His tone wanders between irony and...Read full review »

As others have said, interesting stories but presented badly, reading a script and constant repeating as if it's for children. Too much unnecessary music as well. Also Vanilla ice to present the horse racing series? Has Alan partridge took over commissioning shows?Read full review »

I really wanted to like this podcast but the narrator does his best to make the podcast about himself. No attention to storytelling and editing is just unacceptably bad. How do you screw this up so badly? Would be nice for someone with talent and podcast experience to tell these stories.

Pantani: Death of a Pirate. Overly long, repetitive and poorly constructed. What ought to delight the cycling / true crime fan just bores I’m afraid. Kept thinking I had repeated an episode, they recycle the content so much. Don’t need Hugh Dennis to be funny, just tell the story - and do it in...Read full review »

Very limited content repeated so offen that you start to think you’ve already heard the episode. Each series could be two episodes a most.

It’s a great story but they seem to spend half of each episode either recapping from the last episode or discussing what they’re going to cover in the next one. It gets a bit frustrating after a bit which is a shame as it’s a really interesting story that’s is told well. Maybe they should have...Read full review »

The spy gate story was amazing from the storytelling it’s self to how others who had extra knowledge joined in. I request that one is made one crashgate.

Very disappointing- great subject but this is about twice as long as it needs to be. All rather repetitive and pleased with itself. Does not go into enough detail to fascinate a true cyclist fan but to casual sports fan, it may appeal - if they can hang on … Play at 1.5 or 1.75 speed to keep...Read full review »

I have listened to most of the Allen Stanford series. It is such an interesting topic and a great story, but I can’t listen to the presenter any longer. I don’t know if he is very young himself, or he is aiming this at pre teens and teens, but it does not sound as though he is talking to adults...Read full review »

I was pleasantly surprised by how good this series was and how thoroughly it explored the story from start to finish. I was expecting that, because it was the BBC, it would be very pro-McLaren/anti-Ferrari, pro-Hamilton/anti-Alonso, pro-Ron Dennis/anti-Max Mosley. In fact, it was very balanced...Read full review »

For a newer F1 fan, this was great insight into an event I knew happened and the drivers involved but this was a great layout of what happened, how it happened, and the impact these events had on F1 even today. Great show and glad I found it!

My husband and I listened to this Podcast while driving home from our daughters home. We enjoyed hearing from multiple people within the industry. Particularly the insight into how it runs and all its nuances.

I really wanted to like this podcast, but I keep skipping over vanilla’s voice. It’s a stark contrast to the serious content and unsettling. I don’t have a problem with him hosting it, but he’s hijacked it for himself.

Would probably have made an interesting 1 hour show but the strreeeetttccchhinnng of material re Mclaren/ Ferrari into multiple episodes is painful as is Tong’s absolutely dire delivery of a poor script.

Excellent series proper crime mystery style podcast, it’ll have you reaching for the next episode.
michaeljconroy27 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/05/23
A great podcast that gradually brings two separate narratives exploded when they came together. The narration style won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but most F1 fans will endure it knowing it’s there for listeners unfamiliar with F1. Hopefully they do more series on other big seasons in the sport
Zombie Lazarus via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 12/26/22
For example, making out Lewis left the pits in Hungary without being cleared to do so. Anyone that knows anything about F1 knows that isn’t possible.

What am I listening to? Thrilling content and great story telling, but terrible audio editing. Ad segments interrupt the dialog like it’s YouTube and then it returns to a repeat of earlier material. Incredibly substandard for the BBC.

F1 fans will enjoy this, but the subject matter promised in the title really isn’t covered through the episodes

Tuned in excited to hear about spygate but it’s actually just a podcast about how amazing Lewis Hamilton is… garbage

I never thought I would see the day when two of my favourite ‘pastimes’ would come together! Pete Tong narrating about Spygate in F1. Thoroughly enjoyed the episode, thank you.

Wasn’t a fan of the Vanilla Ice voiceover in the horse racing story, it just didn’t work! However, the latest story on Notts County is one of the best I’ve ever listened to! Couldn’t stop listening to it, Alice Levine was excellent!

I enjoyed the Notts county episodes because Alice Levine was a great podcaster/reporter but Greg & Vanilla Ice were just hopeless.

A quite excellent overview and great story telling. I love cricket and like Greg I am relieved he was ultimately caught and has no presence in the game.
